Finally done with my final year project presentation yesterday and thus it marked the end of my varsity life. No more schooling from now on! It’s a great relieve to know everything has finally come to a conclusion!! No more zombie nightmare haunting me nights after nights causing severe insomnia.
Straight after the presentation, I was glad that I had the night specially arranged for me by omy.sg. Again with their kindness, they had invited me over to an exclusive screening of “Robin Hood” staring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.

I am the fan of Robin Hood since young. Who doesn’t like a genuine heroic story who “rob from the wealthy and gives to the poor”? I mean it’s one of the best hero stories ever written on Earth. Being influenced by my mother (she likes Kevin Costner very very much!) I always had the kind of impression that this hero has got to be handsome.. Haha.. The previous 2 versions (Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves, 1991 and Robin Hood Men in Tight, 1993) featured 2 gorgeous guys in the movie.
1991
1993
And when I first heard that they are going to cast Russell Crowe in this new Robin Hood movie I was shocked!!

I thought I was going to be disappointed!!
But I was wrong. It turned out to be just a nice and one of the coolest movies in 2010! Seriously!
I’m totally buying this new Robin! To be honest I think no one has got to be more suitable than Russell Crowe. He plays the new Robin with much more in-depth personality. Great!

OK. Enough crap on the childhood memory. Let’s move into the review of the movie.
Overall I love this film. Though I’m not sure with the editing because for Singaporean version that I watched there were some abrupt cuts into other scenes which made me confused a little bit. But overall I love the story!

If you’re thinking that this movie is about Robin Hood saving his own village then you are wrong. This is more like “Robin Hood: The Begins”. It tells the story way before “Robin Hood has become Robin Hood”. Yea.. It’s about how history for this character and how he is shaped to be a heroic character in that way.

We see more actions and fighting scenes (though, as usual, some unacceptable scenes like having a sense of romance on a battlefield) but the story really touches me in deep on this Robin character.
I like the part where he stayed in Nottingham especially and to be frank that’s the essence of the whole movie.

Oh yea.. Did I mention that Cate Blanchett is wonderful in this movie? She plays an English woman perfectly and I love her character. Well, she’s much more “useful” in this movie compared to previous version where Marian was just like Princess Peach in Super Mario waiting to be saved. Haha…
And to relate this in the current situation in Malaysia as well… Haihz… Who is the Robin Hood to free us all??
Rise and rise again,
until lambs becomes lions.
