I wasn’t around in the world of blogging for the last month due to Job Hunting Anxiety Disorder. It’s a disease when you had just graduated and you had planned so much to have fun and at the same time hope to get a good job.
So? How was it?
I can tell you everything turned out well. I went for many trips. I gave talks. I was given many opportunities. But most importantly, I found a job.
Or should I say the job found me. I felt like a newly-wed and I am so happy!! I am going to work so hard… But at the same time going to enjoy life more.
Oh yea… My plan to reduce weight had failed terribly thus far. Guess it is time to pick up. Haihz…
See the proof!! Weird that Shrek seemed so happy even I punched him in the stomach.
So here I am running in between KL and Singapore. Staying in KL for holidays while rushing back to Singapore whenever I get the call asking me to come back for job interview. Haha.. Really like businessman!!
I was back in Singapore on Tuesday for interviews and so I was lucky enough to be able to catch the premiere of Shrek: Forever After. It should be the final movie on Shrek. *sob*sob* Seriously it’s one of the finest (and funniest) animation you ever watch in cinema. Still remember how pretty Princess Fiona (in human form) and how she performed the Matrix split.. Haha..
This final chapter comes in 2 version. 3D and normal 2D. Thanks to omy.sg and UIP, I had the special invites to the grand 3D opening of Shrek! So cool putting those 3D glasses on!!
But I think it doesn’t make such a big difference. Shrek is still cooler in story and jokes than its effects. The 3D effect might still be a great enjoyment at the beginning of the movie, but when the story goes on, I got hook up in the story itself more than the 3D effects, by forgetting that I was wearing the glasses. (wonder if that’s a good thing)
Before watching Shrek 4, I was wondering how the scriptwriter going to start a whole new script on Shrek because since Shrek 3 most of the possibilities of the characters and storyline had been explored. This kinda reminded me on “Infernal Affairs 3″ (Hong Kong movie) because all the good characters are dead and wonder how are they going to start the 3rd episode.
But this Shrek is smart! It started off with a “What-if” situation… What if “SHREK IS NEVER BORN BEFORE”?? And the story goes on from there… How did they make Shrek never been born before? You’ve gotta watch the movie to find out! I don’t want to spoil the fun here.
As usual, funny and tickling your senses all the way from the beginning til the end. I love it. Though sometimes you will get a little bit bored with the main character Shrek (it’s the 4th movie you saw him duh?), but in this movie I think the (fatter) puss-in-boots and filthy donkey and warrior Fiona had spiced up the story! Quite a refreshing experience to see those (new) characters!
Moral of the story: Appreciate and cherish what you have now! Now bring your children or younger brother and sister to watch the show and enjoy the time together!!
*Stay through the credit. It was a nice anime with familiar scenes from the 1st movie to the final one. So it kinda hinted that this is the final chapter for the movie.
Finally done with my final year project presentation yesterday and thus it marked the end of my varsity life. No more schooling from now on! It’s a great relieve to know everything has finally come to a conclusion!! No more zombie nightmare haunting me nights after nights causing severe insomnia.
Straight after the presentation, I was glad that I had the night specially arranged for me by omy.sg. Again with their kindness, they had invited me over to an exclusive screening of “Robin Hood” staring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.
I am the fan of Robin Hood since young. Who doesn’t like a genuine heroic story who “rob from the wealthy and gives to the poor”? I mean it’s one of the best hero stories ever written on Earth. Being influenced by my mother (she likes Kevin Costner very very much!) I always had the kind of impression that this hero has got to be handsome.. Haha.. The previous 2 versions (Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves, 1991 and Robin Hood Men in Tight, 1993) featured 2 gorgeous guys in the movie.
1991
1993
And when I first heard that they are going to cast Russell Crowe in this new Robin Hood movie I was shocked!!
I thought I was going to be disappointed!!
But I was wrong. It turned out to be just a nice and one of the coolest movies in 2010! Seriously!
I’m totally buying this new Robin! To be honest I think no one has got to be more suitable than Russell Crowe. He plays the new Robin with much more in-depth personality. Great!
OK. Enough crap on the childhood memory. Let’s move into the review of the movie.
Overall I love this film. Though I’m not sure with the editing because for Singaporean version that I watched there were some abrupt cuts into other scenes which made me confused a little bit. But overall I love the story!
If you’re thinking that this movie is about Robin Hood saving his own village then you are wrong. This is more like “Robin Hood: The Begins”. It tells the story way before “Robin Hood has become Robin Hood”. Yea.. It’s about how history for this character and how he is shaped to be a heroic character in that way.
We see more actions and fighting scenes (though, as usual, some unacceptable scenes like having a sense of romance on a battlefield) but the story really touches me in deep on this Robin character.
I like the part where he stayed in Nottingham especially and to be frank that’s the essence of the whole movie.
Oh yea.. Did I mention that Cate Blanchett is wonderful in this movie? She plays an English woman perfectly and I love her character. Well, she’s much more “useful” in this movie compared to previous version where Marian was just like Princess Peach in Super Mario waiting to be saved. Haha…
And to relate this in the current situation in Malaysia as well… Haihz… Who is the Robin Hood to free us all??
Went to have a look at the latest casino in Singapore. Marina Bay Sands. It’s a quiet noon. Just finished my Nanomaterials and Biomaterial killer paper. I needed to attend a top secret screening of Iron Man 2 later in the evening and so decided not to bring my Nikon D90 out. All photos taken by my 2nd dearest Nokia 5800.
Then from Dhoby Gaut MRT station, I took the latest Circle (orange) line that had just launched last month. Quite a small train compared to the green/red line.
Promenade MRT station is the closest for now. Well these is one MRT station in construction that located just below Marina Bay Sands but only after 2013. Who knows we still got chance to take that train after 2012? But for now it’s a short 10 minutes walk from Promenade.
Walking is not a bad choice. You get the full view of Marina Sands and you get to walk on the ‘Helix’ bridge.
Well I’m not a big fan of ‘Helix’ bridge but I’m sure it will be much more fascinating during the night time with the light decoration turned on. So sad the SkyPark on Marina Sands is not going to open until June, 2010. Arggh!!
Can you see the SkyPark? It’s so ‘neat’ and ‘clean’ beneath it. Hahaha…
The Shopping Mall located opposite of the hotel is called “The Shoppes”. It’s not fully constructed yet. But I bet it’s going to be amazing when it’s fully open in Jun.
Caught ya! Chilling under hot sun?
And our spotlight of the day.. The Casino!!!
Seriously I like Marina Bay Sands’ casino MUCH MORE than Resort World’s. Personally I like the design as it gives you the “GRAND” feeling as compared to RW’s. More “WOW” factor as I mentioned earlier that is lacking in RW’s. Sad thing is that they don’t have resting area like RW or it will be perfect!
And their beverages are upon serving by waiters. Means you need to be a bit thick-face if you are not gambling to ask for it! Hahaha…
For those who are curious, no I didn’t gamble!! I hate gambling!
So then I moved to the hotel part which is the main building of Marina Bay Sands.
Just amazing huh?!The cheapest online rate is SGD450 per night. I wonder when will I get the chance of staying here… *sob*
Give you another view on the building before I leave.
Wow! I’ve became their fans! Marina Bay Sands. *like*
Couldn’t find the real poster. Whatever as long as it brings out the same message. I had been invited by omy.sg to the exclusive preview screening of Iron Man 2.
I mean. who doesn’t like action super hero?! Haha.. Basically the story continues from the first movie picking up after Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) announced that he is the Iron Man, creating craziness and vows towards his latest identity. However, greater power comes greater responsibility. (why sounded like Spiderman?? haha) In this movie he’s gonna deal with his family’s past, where his enemy overtook him by creating a more powerful machine. *blah*blah*blah*
His acting is not bad. Overall the story is standard. Overall the movie is ok! Hahaha… I’m a very “storyline” person. So to be a little more stringent, yea.. a little bit disappointed in the storyline though. But hey! It’s a comic superhero story!! Hahaha…
Went there 2 weeks ago with friends. Don’t really remember (or even bother) to update on this trip as it was not really mesmerizing nor memorable.
To be honest, I am quite (and very) disappointed with the latest Integrated Resort: Resort World in Sentosa. The architecture is predictable, the design is lazy. Not “wow” factor at all.
A little bit “old-fashioned” and predictable floor layout with casino and branded boutique and stuff.. Pretty similar to those in Macau.
Ju-On spotted in Resort World!!
Well at least one thing for celebration is that we have one extra place to hang out in Singapore. Cheers to that.. o.O
Well at least we need not to travel uphill (as in Genting KL) for the casino.
But the restrictions are very intolerant as saw from the news that tourists were refused for admission due to dress code and unable to show passport. Oh yea~ If you are a non-citizen/PR of the country, remember to hold on to your passport because they will check at the entrance.
That night I entered the casino for 4 times, flashing my passport 4 times too…
Hmm… Never mind. I’m looking forward to the 2nd and another Integrated Resort with the “WOW” factor!! Marina Sands Bay Resort!! Well if you are a Public Relation officers looking for bloggers for your opening event, please drop me an email.
Some people talks to me, complaint to me, confronted me.. That I didn’t update my blog as frequent as I was before. So to apologize and make it up for all of you I’m going to post a nude photo of myself! But I know you are going to vomit so I will post it in the next post so you got the time to go and find a plastic, uh, paper (be more environmentally friendly) bag before I post them here. I will be posting those photos soon. Too long never update my blog! Lazy? Busy? Kinda like a mixture of 10% busy and 99% of laziness… Hahaha…
The 1-month trip in Taiwan was nothing more than a superb, excellent, fun trip and I will definitely miss the times I had there~~~ I will try to update you guys as soon as I finish catching up all my studies and stuff.
For the time being, enjoy some photos from the trip.
